What is CEREC?

At Hutto Premier Dentistry we provide the best dental care possible in a comfortable and convenient setting.  This is why we are pleased to announce the addition of the CEREC system to our practice.  The greatest in single-visit crown technology, CEREC is an advanced 3D technology that makes it possible to create custom dental restorations in our office.  Developed at Zurich University in 1985, the CEREC system uses CAD/CAM (computer-aided design / computer-aided milling) technology to create crowns, bridges, and onlay restorations. 
 
There are many benefits of the CEREC system.  One benefit of CEREC is that traditional impressions are no longer needed.  Instead of making unpleasant impressions, the CEREC 3D camera scans your teeth in a mater of seconds.  Another benefit with CEREC is the elimination of temporaries.  Because CEREC restorations are milled from a solid block of porcelain, they are ready to be placed on the tooth immediately.  This eliminates the need for temporary crowns or fillings, and you don’t have to wait several days to receive your final restoration.  And by placing your restoration immediately, not only is it convenient for those with busy schedules, but it also eliminates the need to be numbed at a later visit to deliver your new crown or bridge.  Immediate placement of your restoration also removes the risk of sensitivity associated with a temporary crown.  In addition to all of these benefits, CEREC restorations are metal-free, highly esthetic, and long lasting.
