Dr. John McEntire - Dentist in Hutto Texas
A native Texan, Dr. McEntire was born and raised in Lufkin where he met his wife Ruth. Growing up he was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, earning the Eagle Scout Award. Dr. McEntire earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.
Dr. McEntire then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the prestigious University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School, graduating with dual Honors. Following dental school, he completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program at the UT Health Science Center and University Hospital in San Antonio. During his residency he received extensive training in all aspects of dentistry with an emphasis on conscious sedation techniques, restorative/cosmetic dentistry, and dental implants.
Prior to opening Hutto Premier Dentistry in 2008, Dr. McEntire practiced in San Antonio and taught clinical dentistry to dental students at the University of Texas dental school in San Antonio. In 2011, Dr. McEntire earned his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) award, joining a group of less than 5% of general dentist that earn this award. Because Dr. McEntire believes learning is a life-long process, he completes multiple continuing education courses every year to maintain a current, evidenced-based practice.
Dr. McEntire’s primary educational focus for many years has been on digital dentistry, CEREC, and implant dentistry. Because he is passionate about these technologies, and about helping other dentists, Dr. McEntire serves a Visiting Faculty Member for CDOCS Education in Scottsdale, AZ. Here he attends multiple courses each year to help teach other dentists.
Outside of work, Dr. McEntire enjoys spending family time with Ruth and their son Jay, and daughter Emily. He also enjoys outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, camping, and backpacking. Dr. McEntire has a deep appreciation of music and is an avid guitar player.
